Episode 26 – Successful, but Still Putting Your Life on Hold
You meet the deadlines, honour your responsibilities, and show up for others. But something you want for yourself stays in the “I’m looking into it” stage.
If that feels familiar, start with Who Owns Your Week?, my free reflection guide. Sign up with your email to explore where your time goes and how much room there is for you.
In this episode, I explore how the preparation and careful decision-making that help high achievers succeed can also keep personal experiences on hold. Drawing on an ancient teaching from Epictetus, we look at how to prepare for an imperfect experience without waiting for certainty. I also share how this pattern shows up for me, including while preparing to record on video.
One postponed activity may not matter much. But when creativity, friendships, curiosity, and time for yourself repeatedly get pushed aside, a successful life can leave little room for what makes it feel like yours.
I share reflection questions and a small practical experiment to help you identify what you genuinely need to know, choose something manageable to try, and give it a specific place in your week. Afterwards, ask: “What do I know now that I couldn’t have known from another search?”
For a deeper look at a recurring pattern, explore The Sage Signal™, my paid, self-guided experience. It includes a seven-day Signal Watch to help you notice what keeps returning, what it may be costing you, and what is still working and worth protecting.
